About me
Hello! My name is Barbara Nery, I am a Graphic Designer and Video Editor in Canada with 10 years of experience. Here you can learn a little about my journey.
It all started with the dream of becoming an exchange student, simple. This dream took form through a scholarship with the Rotary Youth Exchange program, when I had the opportunity to spend a year in the US during high school. It was there, amidst the multimedia classes, the edits of video production, and the infinite world of design, that I found my career.
Geography has never been a problem. Brazil, the US, Finland, and now Canada have all been chapters in this ongoing story. In each country, I’ve left my mark as a designer, shaped by the unique challenges each place brings. My ten years of experience are a blending of graphic design, production design, video editing, social media management, marketing, content creation…Which shows my adaptability and desire to learn and grow.
My career, much like my journey, has been diverse and filled with different experiences. I’ve thrived in the setting of a small fintech startup, where I for a long time was the only employee. I’ve also worked in a marketing team with great synergy of an educational SaaS startup and contributed to the grand stage of a major agency, Monks. There, I worked on campaigns for giants like Meta, Tim Hortons, Sanofi, La Mer, and Amazon. One achievement that stands out is the creation of a workstream in Figma, designed to streamline the production of High Velocity Events style guides for Amazon, a feat that brought efficiency and elegance to a complex process.
I am driven by innovation, creativity, and a need for organization. My toolkit is vast and varied:
- Graphic Design: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, XD, and Figma
- Video Editing: Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Final Cut
- HTML/CSS
- Digital Advertising: Google Ads, Facebook Business, and LinkedIn Ads
- Organization: Creating templates and processes, with a particular fondness for Notion and Figma
This journey has taught me how connection is important. Establishing a career in new lands has given me a profound understanding of the challenges that come with networking and professional growth. I love helping others and have been volunteering since my teens, I am always open to new connections and creative adventures.
If my story has resonated with you, perhaps our paths are meant to cross. Reach out, and together, we can create.
